Total Lunar Eclipse 2007

Up one level

This eclipse was nearly a total disaster. Thin clouds and light snowfall made observation almost impossible.

Only a few brief glimpses of the partially eclipsed moon was visible, the view softened by clouds and snow in the air.

During totality, the moon disappeared completely behind the clouds. However, some of the brightest stars (mag 2 and brighter) became visible as soft faint dots as the sky became dark.

The following pictures were taken at the best moments, during the partial phase before totality.

Location: Mjølfjell, Norway.
